Dr. Jose Campo Maldonado is a board-certified Internal Medicine Doctor at UT Health RGV. He has over 15 years of experience in his field and is dedicated to improving the health of the Rio Grande Valley community through compassionate patient care.
At UT Health RGV, Dr. Campo Maldonado offers diagnoses and treatments for a range of infectious diseases, including bacterial diseases, fungal infections, meningitis, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), tropical diseases, and more. He offers patients personalized care plans and resources to ensure they receive the best possible care they deserve.
Dr. Campo Maldonado received his medical degree (MD) from Universidad del Valle School of Medicine in Cali, Colombia. He then completed an internal medicine residency at The University of Texas at San Antonio and an infectious disease residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine. After his residencies, Dr. Campo Maldonado completed an advanced infectious diseases fellowship and a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City.
He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He is also a member of several prestigious organizations, such as the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American College of Physicians.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Campo Maldonado is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the UTRGV School of Medicine, where he educates and trains the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Campo Maldonado enjoys participating in marathons and cycling events. In 2009, he won first place in the Lone Star Pacesetter Half Marathon, and in 2017, he completed the Fiesta Wildflower 100-mile Bicycle Ride.
