Due to the high number of COVID-19 form submissions, it may take up to 3-4 business days (depending on current testing volume requests/demand, etc.) for a scheduling representative to contact you for a phone screening.
Patients who get tested for COVID-19 at one of our testing sites will have results sent to their patient portal account between 1-2 days. It is imperative you sign up for the patient portal with a personal email account in order to receive your results. We will only call patients who test positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Our Patient Communication Center hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and closed on Saturday and Sunday.

COVID-19 Phone Screening
Phone screening is free and a means to provide the best type of appointment. There is no cost for the initial appointment screen with the patient communication center. The patient communication center will offer options for the best type of appointment.
As with any appointment, the appointments, including drive-thru or telemedicine, will be billed to your insurance provider. Please check with your insurance to determine your coverage.

COVID-19 On-Site Testing
If you would like us to bill your health insurance, you will need an order from your doctor or a UT Health RGV physician. There will be a fee for the doctor visit and test, and you may have additional out-of-pocket costs depending on your insurance plan. Please consult your insurance provider for further details about your coverage.
If you are uninsured, you may qualify for assistance. If you prefer to pay cash or do not qualify for assistance, the fee for the visit and RNA test is $150.

Yes. During the appointment, a UT Health RGV provider will make the final decision to perform the test for COVID-19.
COVID-19 Testing is available at all UT Health RGV Primary Care locations valleywide. COVID-19 Testing for children is available only at our UT Health RGV Pediatric Specialty location in Edinburg, TX.
While it is likely a COVID-19 test will be done after a patient meets the phone screening criteria, if the UT Health RGV provider believes the symptoms are related to something else, the provider will treat accordingly.
