Biography

Dr. Roger Galindo, MD is a board certified General Surgeon at UT Health RGV. With over 14 years of advanced surgical experience, Dr. Galindo uses the latest technology and medical advancements in general surgery to provide patients in the RGV with the highest level of care.

Dr. Galindo graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at St. Mary’s University in 1994 and received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from the University of Texas Houston in 1999. He participated as an intern at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 2000 and then completed his Residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2007. Dr. Galindo later completed a Fellowship in Hepaticopancreato Biliary and Advanced Endoscopy at the University of Louisville in 2011.   

As a General Surgeon at the UT Health RGV, Dr. Galindo diagnoses and provides services and treatments for thoracic injuries, abdominal injuries, feeding access, and vascular access, along with surgeries such as critical care, burns, hernia, gallbladder, gastric, colon, breast, small bowel, oncological, laparoscopic and many more. Dr. Roger Galindo is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and specializes in advanced endoscopic procedures.

Additionally, Dr. Galindo is a member of several notable organizations such as International Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association (IHPBA), Americas Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Medical Association, San Diego County Medical Society, and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Galindo joined the UTRGV School of Medicine Faculty in September 2020, after 22 years of military service,  and currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery, educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
