Biography

Dr. Edward Kruse is a board-certified Surgical Oncologist (cancer surgeon) at UT Health RGV.

Dr. Kruse's medical journey began in Iowa, where he completed his medical education. His commitment to serving others led him to the United States Army, where he served in Germany and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Following his service, he completed a general surgery residency at the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin and a surgical oncology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Specializing in cancers of the liver, stomach, pancreas, colon, and other rare abdominal tumors, Dr. Kruse brings over 16 years of experience as the Section Chief of Surgical Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia. His goal at UT Health RGV is to develop a state-of-the-art cancer program, providing local, collaborative care for patients.

Beyond his surgical expertise, Dr. Kruse is a vital contributor to the medical community. He serves as a site reviewer for the Commission on Cancer, has presented at numerous national conferences, and has published over 45 peer-reviewed articles, many of which focus on innovative treatments for pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Kruse is available at the UT Health RGV Cancer and Surgery Center in McAllen. He is committed to improving patient lives through expert, compassionate care.
