Evan Perez, MD, CAQSM, is a board-certified Primary Care / Sports Medicine Doctor at UT Health RGV. He specializes in providing thorough, non-surgical care for activity-related conditions and injuries in both children and adults. His patients include athletes, non-athletes, and “weekend warriors” ready to get back on track.
Dr. Perez graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas-Pan America (UTPA) in 2009. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2014, and he completed his family medicine residency training at the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston, Texas. After his residency, he continued his education and completed his primary care sports medicine fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso in 2018.
Dr. Perez is a member of several notable organizations, such as the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).
In 2018, Dr. Perez joined the UTRGV School of Medicine faculty, and he currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine. He also serves as a team physician for UTRGV Athletics, RGV FC Toros, and the NBA G-League RGV Vipers. He has extensive experience covering high school football, boxing, mixed martial arts, and mass participation events such as marathons and triathlons.
At home, Dr. Perez enjoys spending time with his wife and his dogs. As part of his commitment to staying active, he participates in an adult softball league.
Dr. Perez is excited to return to the Rio Grande Valley and fulfill his dreams of improving the quality of health care for patients of all ages, while educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
