Biography

Gerardo Munoz-Monaco, MD, FAAFP, is a board-certified Family Medicine Doctor at UT Health RGV. Dr. Munoz-Monaco uses the latest advancements in family medicine to improve the health and lives of both children and adults in the Rio Grande Valley.

As a Family Medicine/Primary Care Doctor at UT Health RGV, Dr. Munoz-Monaco specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, including chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and arthritis. His services also include preventive care, health screenings, immunizations, and specialized care for men’s and women’s health. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with a special interest in Preventive Care and Quality/Coding.

Dr. Munoz-Monaco received his medical degree from Universidad de Carabobo Faculty of Health Sciences in 2004 and completed his family medicine residency training at Indiana University School of Medicine - Methodist Hospital in 2013. After his residency, he completed his faculty development fellowship at The University of North Texas Health Science Center.

Dr. Munoz-Monaco is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine, National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA), and a member of the NHMA Board Development Committee.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Gerardo Munoz-Monaco joined the UTRGV School of Medicine faculty and serves as an Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine, educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
