Biography

Dr. Humberto Hidalgo earned his Master's Degree in Biological Sciences from The University of New Orleans in 1976 and received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from Tulane University in 1981. Dr. Hidalgo completed his Pediatric Internship and Pediatric Residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. After completion of his residency, he continued his medical education and completed his Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1989.

Dr. Hidalgo is board certified by The American Board of Pediatrics with special qualifications in Pediatric Pulmonology. As a Pediatric Pulmonology specialist at UT Health RGV, Dr. Hidalgo is dedicated to providing outstanding and compassionate care for all of his patients and treats diseases/sickness of the lungs and respiratory system in children.

Dr. Hidalgo joined the UTRGV School of Medicine Faculty in 2015 and currently serves as a Professor of Pediatrics, educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care. Dr. Hidalgo is also the Clerkship Co-Director for 3rd/4th-year medical students and the Respiratory Module Co-Director and member of the Student Education Committee in Pediatrics.
