Biography

Dr. Saul D. Rivas, MD, MSPH, FACOG, is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist at UT Health RGV. Dr. Rivas uses the latest medical advancements in Obstetrics and Gynecology to improve the quality of health and life for women in the RGV.

As an Obstetrician-Gynecologist (OB/GYN) specialist at UT Health RGV, Dr. Rivas offers diagnostic and treatment in Obstetrics and Gynecology including women’s preventive health care, infertility evaluation & treatment, pap tests and treatment, gynecology services and routine and high risk pregnancy care, acute illness care for women’s health issues, and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Rivas provides his patients with a personalized patient care plan along with a variety of resources to ensure patients can make the most educated choice about their health care. Dr. Rivas is Board Certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and provides advanced and compassionate patient care for women with the latest medical technology and OB/GYN treatment options.

Additionally, Dr. Rivas also plays an integral part in providing patient care for women through the UniMóvil mobile health care unit and is a member of several notable organizations such as the American Congress for Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG), Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics & Gynecology (SASGOG) and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO). Dr. Rivas was recently named the National Academy of Medicine Norman F. Grant/American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellowship recipient for 2019-2021.

Dr. Rivas earned his Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2007. Dr. Rivas then received his Medical Degree (MD) from Texas A&M Health Science Center in 2012 and completed his OB/GYN Residency training at The University of New Mexico in 2016.

Dr. Saul Rivas joined the UTRGV School of Medicine Faculty in 2017 and currently serves as an Associate Professor and the Medical Student Clerkship Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Rivas is actively educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
