Dr. Alcides Amador is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UT Health RGV. Dr. Amador delivers evidence-based care for children and adolescent patients in the RGV and is also the Medical Director of the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine program at the UTRGV School of Medicine.
Dr. Amador graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry, Business Administration, and Spanish from The University of Texas - Pan American in 2010 and received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from Baylor College of Medicine in 2015. He then completed his Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2018. Additionally, he completed his Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2020.
As a Psychiatrist at UT Health RGV, Dr. Amador diagnoses and provides services and comprehensive treatment of Child & Adolescent Psychiatric disorders such as but not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and Developmental Disorders.
Additionally, Dr. Amador is a member of several notable organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Amador joined the UTRGV School of Medicine Faculty in July 2020 and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
