Dr. Alcides Amador is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. At UT Health RGV, he provides evidence-based care for young patients across the Rio Grande Valley.
Dr. Amador earned his bachelor's degree in biology with minors in chemistry, business administration, and Spanish from The University of Texas - Pan American in 2010. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 2015, completed his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2018, and his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2020.
At UT Health RGV, Dr. Amador treats children and adolescents with conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and developmental disorders. He is also an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Amador joined the UTRGV School of Medicine faculty in July 2020 and serves as Medical Director of the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine program. He also serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and is dedicated to educating and training future leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
