Biography

Dr. Alejandro Bocanegra, MD, is a board-certified Family Medicine Doctor at UT Health RGV. With over 2 years of advanced medical experience, Dr. Bocanegra uses the latest technology and medical advancements in family medicine to provide communities in the RGV with the highest level of care.

Dr. Bocanegra graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas San Antonio in 2008 and received his Medical Degree (MD) from Howard University College of Medicine in 2014. He then completed his Residency at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2018.

As a Family Medicine Physician at UT Health RGV, Dr. Bocanegra diagnoses and provides services and treatments for preventative care, acute illness care, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, arthritis, men’s and women’s health, adult and geriatric medicine, gynecology services, menopausal counseling and provides additional diagnostic services such as physical examinations, health screenings, and immunizations. Dr. Alejandro Bocanegra is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Additionally, Dr. Bocanegra is a member of the Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Bocanegra joined the UTRGV School of Medicine Faculty in 2020 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Family Medicine.
