Antonio Martinez Jr., CMD, is a Certified Medical Dosimetrist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UT Health RGV. He is an integral member of the radiation oncology team at the UT Health RGV Cancer & Surgery Center in McAllen, Texas, where he contributes to the clinical and operational development of the institution’s radiation therapy services. His work supports the delivery of precise, evidence-based radiation treatment for patients throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Antonio earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Texas at Brownsville and completed his medical dosimetry training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center School of Health Professions. His education included advanced instruction in radiation treatment planning, quality assurance, and multidisciplinary cancer care within a high-volume academic medical center.
In his clinical role, Antonio is responsible for the design and optimization of individualized radiation treatment plans for patients with a wide range of malignancies. He collaborates closely with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to ensure treatment plans meet established dosimetric, technical, and safety standards. His experience includes advanced planning techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Antonio plays a key role in program development initiatives, including clinical policy authorship, workflow standardization, and accreditation readiness. His efforts support the implementation of best practices aligned with national professional guidelines and quality frameworks.
Antonio is a Certified Medical Dosimetrist through the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board and an active member of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists. He is committed to advancing high-quality radiation oncology care and expanding access to modern cancer treatment for the Rio Grande Valley community. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
