Dr. Evan D. Perez is a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician at UT Health RGV. He is Board Certified by The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and through the ABFM in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Perez utilizes up to date evidenced based care offering comprehensive non-surgical care for activity related conditions for children and adults whether they are active people, athletes, non-athletes, “weekend warriors,” or occupational injuries. Dr. Perez provides a personalized patient care plan along with a variety of resources to ensure patients can make the most educated choice about their health care.
Additionally, Dr. Perez is a member of notable of several notable organizations such as the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and Texas Medical Association (TMA) along with the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).
Dr. Perez graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas-Pan America (UTPA) in 2009. Dr. Perez received his Medical Degree (M.D.) from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2014, and he completed his Family Medicine Residency training at the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston, Texas. After completion of his residency training, he continued his medical education and completed his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso in 2018.
Dr. Perez joined the UTRGV School of Medicine Faculty in 2018 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. He also serves as a team physician for UTRGV Athletics, RGV FC Toros, and the NBA G-League RGV Vipers. Dr. Perez has previously covered high school football, boxing, mixed martial arts and mass participation events such as marathons and triathlons.
Dr. Perez is currently involved with teaching the UTRGV School of Medicine Students, the UTRGV-DHR Family Medicine Residency program, the UT Health RGV Knapp Family Medicine Residency Program and the UTRGV DHR Sports Medicine Fellowship program.
Dr. Perez enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 dogs. He likes to stay active by being involved in an adult softball league.
Dr. Perez is excited to return to the Valley and fulfill his dreams in transforming the quality of health care for patients of all ages while educating and training the next generation of leaders in medicine, research, and patient care.
